FINAL Graphic Design

FINAL: Business Card

This is my pattern that I used for the business postcard. I created a new pattern for this project because I felt like the pattern I originally made did not fit my theme of my postcards. I started out by looking up images of golf patterns on google, and I saw something similar to my pattern so that was some inspiration for me.

This is the front of my postcard that I used for the business postcard. This is a picture of me from a summer tournament that I was in, and there was a professional photographer taking pictures of all the participants. So it was really cool to see me in a professional photo.

This is my official business postcard. I used my original address and I just made up a name to create the scene. I felt like golf was a good theme for all of my postcards because I feel like it's a good thing for me to talk about because I know a lot about it.

FINAL: Postcard

This is my actual postcard and inspirational postcard. I felt like this quote fit the theme of all of my postcards and also fit my personality.

This is my formal postcard. I felt like a golf picture would fit the theme.

Explore A/V Semester Reflection

Description

During this semester in Explore A/V we did convergence journalism. We did multiple projects. These projects were ONW Procedures, Audio, Partner, Blood drive, and our Final (ONW NOW). Along the way we used our "Five Guarantees" (Collaboration, Communication, Technical, Project Management, and Portfolio). We learned many technical skills such as "J and L" edits and learning how to place an interview in "the rule of thirds" but also how to manage our time wisely. We all had some hiccups on the way, but we all figured it out eventually. I really want to improve on my Story editing skills, and work on "J and L" edits.

Reaction

Out of all of our projects, we had some important ideas that we had to learn in order to build up to our ONW NOW Final. We had to work on "J and L" edits, story building,  "Finding a story" and much more that we learned. We had issues such as learning these new ideas, and miscommunications, but I feel like most of the projects we did were important to have a successful Final Project. I feel like I could have done more to try and get my projects in, and to make them better quality, but otherwise I felt like this was a good experience for me. A reaction can be a response to something or an action that has happened before. A statement or picture in words that responds to an action or phrase that has been said or heard.

Evaluation and Analysis

Something that worked for me this year was probably to ask questions if I needed to. I always had questions about how to edit certain things in to my video, but I for the most part tried to ask my peers or even ask google if I was desperate. But I feel like something that didn't work was probably my editing skills and turning things in on time. Decides the Value of something. To tell if it is good or bad in a certain situation.

Learning and Action Plan

Something I learned this semester was to better understand what I was doing in each class. Last year, I was scrambling to try and figure out how to do stuff on a mac. But this year I got better and tried my best to do better. At the beginning of the year I only new very few things from last year coming into my sophomore year, but this year I have learned a lot along the way. In the first part of the semester, I was gone a lot from golf and I missed a lot on how to do a lot of the procedures, edits, inside stories, and everything that we learned then. During this semester I also learned some life skills along the way too. I learned how to manage m time a lot better than I did last year. Most of the time management was learning where everything was in Final Cut Pro. But for the most part I got better because some days I had to stay after school or come in before school to finish up work or to try and work on simple concepts. B-Roll is also something new that we learned. I had no idea how much time it takes up. This semester I enjoyed being in video and can't wait for next semester!

Action Plan

This next semester I would like to improve on a lot of things. One thing I would like to improve on is my social skills, I feel like I asked questions during class, but to write a blog outside of school, I had to ask multiple people to try and figure out what we were doing in the blog. I also need to work on paying more attention in class because of all of the miscommunications. I need to work on writing stuff done of what I need to do, when I need to finish and how I need to do all of the stuff I need to get done. Some elements I need to learn and hope I learn are to Communicate such as asking peers or google questions. Collaborating with team mates or partners on the task at hand. Technical skills such as audio, sound, interviews, live events, scheduling, planning and more.

Logo Design Process

These are my ideas of how I got my logo started. I decided to start out with some of my hobbies, like golf, but I couldn't figure out how to incorporate it into my logo. So then I started using my initials to try and create my logo. I then got bored so I decide to draw random shapes on my sketches. I also sketched my old logo from last year, and tried new ideas within that past logo.

I decided to look up pictures related to golf. But Similarly I couldn't incorporate anything related to my hobby. So I looked up things the related to my name (roses) and it gave me a better idea of what my logo would be. But I still wanted to incorporate my hobby into my logo. I decided to look up green floral logos for inspiration to create my digitized logo.
Here are my art boards for my logo design process. I did not fill all of my art boards, because I needed to start on my logo. So I started to paint random squiggly lines. Then the design came to me, I incorporated tear drops on the outside of the logo, along with the squiggly lines within the tear drops, but the I started to mess with the color, so I decided to use a greenish color to represent golf.
Here is my finished logo!

Floating Mountain

This is my floating mountain.

Tutorial

This is the tutorial that I did over the Volkswagen logo.

Famous logo

This is the famous logo I did. It was really tough to do the gradient, but I managed to do it.

Masks

These are my masks. I took minimal time. These were fun to do. I decided to do yellow and green for my corn. I don't think that I did my best work on this specific project.

Motif and Repeat Pattern

My Repeat Pattern is I think very simple, it needs some work. I could have done more with turning the shapes into different patterns. It has the stroke around it which I should have gotten rid of.

I think some good things are,it's simple but different, not to much going on, not too little.

I feel like I did better with my Motif then my repeat pattern, I messed around with it, and tried new things, and made something happen.

Breaking Rules and Pushing Boundaries

Rules can be used in many different ways. Whether it's rules in a sport, or it's stopping at a stop sign. Rules are everywhere. Designing specifically, has many specific rules. Design must communicate by reasoning with an audience. It must show simple ideas but complicated at the same time. As a society we need rules to function, we are a free country, but we are governed by certain rules. However, breaking the rules is not easy. It takes guts to do it. You have to be brave in order to break them. Rules are rules, some are meant to be broken, some are not.

Professional Project Overview

Locked Away, By: R-City Feat. Adam Levine. A life lesson. In other words, showing you what could happen in life bad things and good. There are many different life scenarios displayed. Family's with money issues, or Family's having a Dad leave to go to war. All have one thing in common, life is tough, and is not meant to be taken advantage of. It also asks if the families would care for that 1 family member if they left. Lyrics ask: "If I got locked away, and we lost it all today, tell me honestly, would you still love me the same?" R. City's debut album "What Dreams Are Made Of" Published 14, August, 2015.
Using this video I can definitely take some technical parts from it. Such as, "the rule of thirds", specific lighting, iris, and "start late leave early". I have learned many things from this video but I already knew some of the technical skills that are needed. This video instructor did very well in telling the story, showing those life connections. They need work on using "the rule of thirds" a tad more. I thought this creator of the video executed fairly well, showing technical skills and also the story showing its life connections. TO see more on this video look at the links below to see more on "Locked Away"

Graphic Design Pencil

Creating this project wasn't too difficult of challenge. I had a few hiccups but otherwise it was good to start off easier. This pencil project was fun to see what my other classmates would put into their creative piece. Along with this project I learned a couple new shortcut keys which will help me manage my time in the next project.  Such as (Command G) which is Grouping shapes together. And (Command Shift G) which is to ungroup the shapes. I will definitely use these in future projects.

What is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design, Communication using textual and visual ideas to present information.  We use Graphic Design all the time.  We may not even know that we use it EVERYDAY!  Such as looking at a cereal box, or even a sports event.  Its an idea of our life, a concept, conveyer of a message. This Visual Language can be many types of experiences, these experiences can take place in an instant or over long periods of time. Design that’s meant to be experienced in an instant is the easiest to recognize and has been around the longest.

Final Blog Post

What was the scope of the project?
During the project, my group and I wanted to complete the project so we could get a decent grade on it.  We wanted to take our time, and use it wisely. What was your process (speak to pre-production: idea/concept, storyboard,
wireframe, thumbnails, sketches, etc.; production: the actual creation; post-
production: editing, revision).
Our processes included, working on logos, ads, website, animations, and the video commercial.  First, we worked on, the animation to get the idea of the product, the, we moved to work on graphics such as, logos, ads, coupons, the website, and finally we finished with the commercial video, to advertise our product to potential buyers. What did you learn along the way?Along the way we had some communications issues, such as, if someone is finishing the logo, or if someone is finishing the website.
What would you do differently next time?
Something that I would differently is communicating better with my team, and use my time as needed. We also could have been more efficient in getting stuff handed in on time.  We also could have been a little bit nicer to each other when communicating.
What would you do the same? Something that I would have done the same is making sure we are getting everything finished.  Something that I would also done the same is making sure we are organized, we also told each other if we were going to be gone one day while working on the project.  What will you draw from this experience to enhance your next project?Something that I will take from this experience is to work more efficiently next time. Making sure EVERYONE is doing something during the time given.  I thought this project was fun, but stressful at some times because we all didn’t agree on the same ideas.

What I learned about teamwork-

Today I learned that teamwork is very important. In order to accomplish anything there has to be teamwork. The Meyers-Briggs is a personality test. It shows if you are Extravert, Introvert, Intuitive, Feeling Judging, and much more. If you had to work in a group, you wouldn't want to have people who have the exact same personality or exact opposite of your personality. There needs to be a balance,

Today's Activity included-

During today's lesson we had to use teamwork to try and build something out of legos. Some of the models had to have no talking involved which was hard. But teamwork needs to be evenly dispersed among a group. YO cannot have one person doing all the work, while the others aren't doing anything.

How will teamwork impact your future?

I think it will impact my future because later, if I get a job, I will need to have teamwork involved to get a project done. Especially in the near future. I will need to have teamwork to accomplish something. Teamwork may include, leadership, roles, parts, or even working together. All of these are necessary to teamwork.

My Dream House

I feel like the scope of this project went pretty well. The process of this project was: I started to build the frame of my house. I then added a roof and started to add color to the house. Then added a garage and driveway for the house. Finally I added components to make the house fit in it's place. Something that I learned during Sketchup was learning how to use the tools. It was a very entertaining process. I have never used this type of software before. It has made me understand how Video's and Animation's are created. Next time I do a project on Sketchup, I will definitely put more effort towards the project. Something I could differently would be putting more effort to get the project done, and having confidence towards my finished project. During The Dream House Project, overall I thick I did pretty well. This was an interesting experience for me. Like I said I have neve done anything like this, so it's pretty cool.

Animation Presentation(Car Race)

In my Presentation, two cars are dueling it out to try and win the race. The scope of my project was how I viewed my project. My process was to create a plot to my storyboard, draw my storyboard, start to create my animation, finish it, and touch it up. I learned that you need to have clear transitions and it has to have a plot. I would definitely have a master background which helps a lot. I will definitely put more time into this project, and put forth more effort. I feel like my animation isn't as good as it could be, but overall it was alright.
